Üsküdar's waterfront looks straight back across the Bosphorus at the domes and minarets of the old city, lit head-on by the setting sun. Travellers have crossed from this shore since antiquity: the roads out of Anatolia ended here, at a boat for the capital opposite. Ferries still cast off from the same square today, beneath a domed mosque Sinan raised over the landing, and fishermen work the railings as they have for generations. You come here to look, not to arrive. The promenade runs low and open along the strait, and the whole city performs across the water: ferries carve white wakes, the Maiden's Tower sits on its rock just offshore, and cargo ships slide past improbably close. As the sun goes down behind the old city the crowd thickens at Salacak, and Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque turn to black silhouettes against an orange sky. Then the lamps come on, tea glasses appear along the railing, and the little tower lights up on the water.

Walk south to Salacak for the cleanest frame — there the Maiden's Tower sits dead centre with Hagia Sophia's domes stacked behind it across the water.
Grab tea, not a table — the real ritual is a glass from a stall and a spot at the railing beside the fishermen, not a sit-down restaurant.
Winter after rain is sharpest — a north wind scrubs the haze and the far shore snaps into focus, minaret by minaret.

Stay past the sunset
Take the Salacak sea-wall as the light drops, facing the strait, and don't leave at the last colour. The better show is the ten minutes after, when floodlights catch the far minarets one by one and the Maiden's Tower blinks on. The evening call to prayer arrives twice here: first from the mosques at your back, then a beat later off the European shore, carried across open water. Join the line of fishermen while you wait and lean where their rods angle over the current.

Walk the quay past three imperial mosques
Follow the waterfront from the ferry square along the strait and count the mosques standing on this short run of shore. Mihrimah Sultan sits over the landing, Şemsi Ahmed Pasha almost in the water, and Yeni Valide inland behind them. No two are from the same century. Read them as a sequence and three hundred years of Ottoman building passes in a ten-minute walk.
